2017 has been a very interesting year in SA's celebville.

Some people including celebrities would do just about anything to trend on social media networks especially on Twitter but some trends are unplanned but not easily forgotten. 2017 has been a very interesting year in SA’s celebville.

Here are our Top 5 celebs that trended for the wrong reasons this year:

Bonang Matheba

Her brand is growing and Queen B seems to be making more money juggling endorsements. She and her bae, AKA recently made headlines after reports revealed how much money they made from their endorsements. However, the shade was thrown at her book titled, From A to B by other celebs including her former BFF and Idols SA judge, Somizi Mhlongo. She relaunched the book in September after it was recalled because of grammatical and factual errors as well as the fact that Somizi and her ex-boyfriend, DJ Euphonik sent legal letters demanding that their names and any references to them in the book be removed.

 

Babes Wodumo

The Gqom Queen has received her fair share of criticism in 2017. She ranted and raved when she did not win at this year’s SAMAs with Big Nuz member, Mampintsha. She was nominated several international including the MTV Europe Music Awards but failed to attend.

First, she could not get a Visa and next she had issues with paying for her own flights and accommodation. Who can ever forget the missing link on a USB? She caused a frenzy on social media after posting a video on Instagram pleading with fans to send her link to a song that is on a missing USB. Fun was poked at her but at last, she found it.

 

Zodwa Wabantu

This is one person who is unapologetic about her lifestyle and makes it clear to all that whatever you may say about her will not change the state of the country. She is popular for mastering the ‘Vosho’ dance as well as one who embraces her body and is not afraid to bare it all. She rocked up at the Durban July in a black dress that exposed her behind but surprised fans when she attended the Feather Awards in a daring emerald green dress.

Emtee

The award-winning rapper trended for the wrong reason after a video of him urinating went viral. Who would actually expose their private parts for the world to see? He apologised but it happened and social media did not take it lying down.

Brickz

Kwaito musician, Sipho ‘Brickz’ Ndlovu was sentenced to 15 years in prison in October for raping his relative in 2013 who was 16 at the time. The Sweety my baby hitmaker maintained his innocence throughout the trial and repeatedly said “the truth would come out.
