Gospel singer wins Song of the year award

In 2014, Nkabinde also won an award for Song of the Year at the Mpumalanga Gospel Awards.

MBOMBELA – Gospel musician, Ernest Nkabinde from Newscom won the Song of the Year award with his song, ‘Ngisemandleni KaJehova ‘ at the fourth Mpumalanga Gospel Music Awards held on Sunday evening at the Communio Church.

Speaking to this publication, Nkabinde said even though he has been in the industry for 10 years, but it is not easy to survive if you are not disciplined.

“First of all, I’d like to thank all the people who voted for me, my fans and family they have supported me. Their support keeps me grounded and disciplined. Receiving the award is a blessing because the competition was very tough. I was not expecting it,” he said.

“The fact that people took their time and voted for me, it’s an encouragement to do better as I want to change people’s lives through my music. I believe that God called me to preach his word,” said Nkabinde.

He concluded by advising young and upcoming artists not to lose focus because of fame and money.

“Looking back where I started, I have learnt that in order to stay on top of the game, I need to be true to myself. What I can say to people who want to sustain their careers in the industry, they need to shift from the celebrity lifestyle mentality. People end up living fake lifestyles,” explained Nkabinde.
