BREAKING: Zimbabwe’s President Mugabe resigns

Mr Mugabe, 93, was until now the world's oldest leader.

After 37 years in power, Robert Mugabe resigned as Zimbabwe’s president on Tuesday, shortly after parliament began an impeachment process to end his nearly four decades of rule.

Mr Mugabe, 93, was until now the world’s oldest leader. He had previously refused to resign despite last week’s military takeover and days of protests. His decision to finally resign has sparked wild celebrations in the streets.
