Mbombela United on muthi scandal

Mabuza believes that such kind of claims are from people who are trying to fulfil their own agendas and to shift the team's focus from its objectives.

Mbombela United FC confirmed that they received an SMS from the South African Football Players Union with regard to the alleged claims made by some of their players stating that they were forced to use muthi or else have their contracts terminated.

Mbombela United Manager Patrick Mabuza

The club manager, Patrick Mabuza said each and every team has its own rituals which players are made aware of before they can sign contracts. Mabuza said it is not up to the union to dictate on whether teams can use muthi or not. “Such kinds of unfounded reports have the potential of bringing the team into disrepute and lowering its image. What we are saying is that our players know the code of conduct of the team and we are expecting them to use the right channels of communication whenever they have concerns,” he said.
