Spurs claim Mpumalanga derby bragging rights

Witbank Spurs kept themselves in the hunt for a top-three finish as they beat their provincial rivals 3-1 in a match that was held at Puma Rugby Stadium in Emalahleni on Saturday. Spurs goals were scored by Joshua Sauls (2) and Sabelo Nyembe. Inky Masuku, who missed a penalty earlier on during the game, scored Mbombela only goal.

The defeat for Tingwenyama ended their hopes for a promotion play-off spot. With two games to go, they occupy seventh spot with 40-points.

Spurs on the other hands they still have a chance to book their play-off spot. They are currently perched in position six with 44-points after 28-games.
Also in the run for a play-off spot are Black Leopards on second place with 47-points, Stellenbosch FC with 46-points in third place, Royal Eagles and Amazulu are on fourth and fifth place respectively, with the same number of points and games as Spurs, only separated by goal difference.

Spurs next game is against already relegated Santos FC at Athlone Stadium on Wednesday while Mbombela will travel to Eagles at Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium.
Spurs will wrap-up their 2016/17 season with a clash against another play-off spot chasers Eagles when they host them at Puma Rugby Stadium on Saturday whileMbombela will host Magesi FC at KaNyamazane Stadium.
