Witbank and Mbombela record crucial wins

Both Mpumalanga based sides campaigning in the National First Division recorded crucial wins over the weekend.
Inconsistenct Witbank Spurs beat highflying Mthatha Bucks 2-1 at their strongholds Mthatha Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Amathol’Amnyama as Bucks are known scored first through Nkhululeko Buthelezi in the 60th minute.

But the lead lasted only two minutes as Sivutha Umlilo equalised in the 62 minutes through Peter Mubayiwa. Bucks defender, Aphiwe Lubisi own goal in the 73rd minutes earned the Emalahleni based side all the three important points on the road.
The win put Spurs on position six with 37-points after 25-games. They are left with five games and there is a three point deficit to catch-up with third placed, Black Leopards, which is a promotion/relation play-offs spot.

Elsewhere, Mbombela United recorded their biggest win of the season when they beat relegation threatened Cape side Milano United 4-0 at Athlone Stadium.
Tingwenyama went into the recess leading 1-0 through a strike via Thamisanqa Masiya, who scored in the 43rd minute. They came back into the second half and score three more goals though Inky Masuku (63rd-minute), Tsediso Patjie (19) and Tsepho Liphoko (85).

The win for the Aschwin Sutton side was the second one over Cape sides in less than a week. Last Wednesday, Tingwenyama beat another Cape side Stellenbosch FC 2-1 at KaNyamazane Stadium.
The local based side’s win moves them to ninth place with 34-points after 25-games.
Their next game will be against another Cape side, Santos FC, who are rooted at the bottom of the log with 18-points after 25-games, at KaNyamazane Stadium on Saturday.

Coincidentally, their Mpumalanga brothers, Spurs will also be hosting another Cape side in Milano, who lost to Mbombela, at Puma Rugby Stadium, also on Saturday.
Both matches will kick-off at 15:00.
