Buckle up for second Annual Mpumalanga Cycle Tour

The tour acts as an opener of the road cycling season in the country

It’s all systems go for the second annual Mpumalanga Cycle Tour, which starts on Thursday in Loskopdam outside Middelburg and finishes on Tuesday, January 17 at Blyde Canyon.
“We are excited to yet again host the Mpumalanga Cycle Tour, which brings together top cyclists. The tour acts as an opener of the road cycling season in the country,” says culture, sport and recreation spokesman, Sibongile Nkosi, whose department is the main sponsor of the race.
According to Nkosi, the six-stage race is bigger and better this year, which will see the tour going to Limpopo and it has attracted riders from the United States of America and France.

“The Mpumalanga Cycle Tour is only in its second year, but it has already grown in stature and attracted overseas riders. As a department, we are also pleased that it has attracted 26 cyclists of colour,” adds Nkosi.
The tour will start with a gala dinner on Wednesday at the Forever Resort Loskopdam. The following day (Thursday, January 12, cyclists will battle it for top honours for Stage-one (197 kilometres) from Loskopdam to Badplaas.
Friday – stage-two; (99-kilometres) from Badplaas Forever Resort to Mbombela.
Saturday – stage-three; (140-kilometers) in and around Mbombela.
Sunday – stage-four; (109-kilometers) from White River Forever Resort to Mount Sheba Forever Resort.
Monday – stage-five; (121-kilometers) from Mount Sheba Forever Resort to Swadini Forever Resort.
Tuesday – stage-six (85.2 kilometers) from Swadini Forever Resort to Blyde Canyon Forever Resort.
