Mpumalanga artists urged to enter Sama Awards

Entries being open from November 1 until January 31 next year – this is a once-off three-month submission period

MBOMBELA- Much as there is abundance of entries for the forthcoming SAMA Music Awards, there is a call for Mpumalanga artists to submit their work so as to be eligible for selection among the various categories.

This was disclosed by the chairperson of the SAMA Awards, Thobela Dlamini who converged in the province last Thursday.

According to Dlamini, “Entries opened to the music fraternity on November 1 and are due to close on January 31, 2017.

I’m a bit worried because we’re not receiving much entries from Mpumalanga. This, in turn, would look as if the awards are only about Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal who dominate the awards categories. That’s not the case as they are open to everybody across the land, including here.

“Our objective is to transform the awards to be enjoyed and supported by everybody as surely each region, depending on the depth of talent, can be represented in the final awards ceremony.

This is a premier event and deserves to be appreciated by every music lover, and thus far, we have succeeded to lure musicians from all corners, but the numbers need to increase. I must caution artists though, that they need to have an album that is properly registered then they will be compatible to enter.
