Welcome to paradise: All you need to know about Moz

People call Mozambique the paradise we never knew existed.

I would never forgive myself if I did not visit the place this year! These days young people even go on “baecation,” a holiday taken by young couples who refer to each other as “bae.” There is definitely lots to do and see.

Accommodation

Have the best breathtaking holiday at Castelo do Mar. It is situated opposite Coconut Forest Beach. The en-suite rooms have both a fan and an air conditioner due to the hot and humid climate. Other resorts you can visit include Montanha and Casa do Capita.

Food

Seafood, seafood and more seafood! The prawns and peri-peri chicken are the best. Mozambican food is delicous and spicy, why not bring a box of prawns and spices home?

Places to go and things to do
Scuba diving, fishing, sunset cruises and water sports are some of the activities you can explore. You can also unwind in the vibrant clubs of Maputo. The nightlife is quite extensive. So do pack your dancing shoes and party till dawn.

Tips when travelling to Mozambique

• All visitors going to Mozambique must possess a valid passport for at least six months after their departure from their country. South Africa, Zambia, Botswana and Swaziland citizens do not require a visa.
• Operating hours at the Komatipoort Border are from 06:00 to 24:00.
• Zika, hepatitis A, malaria and typhoid are rife in Mozambique. Vaccinate 72 hours before your visit.
• It is a good idea to make a pit stop at the Komati Oasis located along the N4 approximately 1, 4 kilometres from the border. This is a good place to fill up on fuel and stock up on supplies for the road.
• The Bureau de Change is open from 08:30 to 15:30 during the week.
