Sama’s entries now open

The album must be commercially available in order to qualify for an entry.

The annual South African Music Awards (Sama’s) journey has officially begun with entries being open from November 1 until January 31 next year – this is a once-off three-month submission period.

These awards are classified as the premier annual music event in South Africa. It honours and recognises accomplishments in the country’s recording industry and also celebrates the diversity infused in the various music genres.

Produced and hosted under the auspices of The Recording Industry of South Africa (Risa), the awards showcase the country’s finest musical talent and rewards the previous year’s star performers at a gala event that is broadcast live on TV.

The 23rd edition of the Samas takes place next year. Three more categories have been added, which are the Best African Indigenous Gospel (Clap and Tap/Zion music), Best Africa Artist and Best Afropop albums.

For further information about the Samas, please visit our website on www.samusicwards.co.za. Entries are open to all artists who have released an album between December 1, 2015 and January 31, 2017.

The album must be commercially available in order to qualify for an entry.
All recording artists and recording labels whose artists qualify are encouraged to enter. As the only music awards event that recognises the various music genres in South Africa, being in line to be considered for the coveted statuette is a monumental achievement.

Visit www.samusicawards.co.za or www.risa.org.za, or Risa on 011-886-1342 for more information on how to enter.
