Satisfy your taste buds with these

On the main road in Newskom one finds Mphikza's establishment. This is not just your average eatery, as the best chicken is prepared here.

The weather is gloomy as I head to Mphikza’s Galinando Chicken Braai on a Thursday afternoon. There are no fancy tables or fine cutlery, but what distinguishes this place from most shisa nyama outlets I have been to, is its cleanliness.

I was told by an employee, Sifiso Mashabane also known as Codesa, that hygiene is a priority.
“This business has stood the test of time because there are many people who have been braaiing chicken on the sides of the road since 2002, yet we are still operating.
We started in a shack before getting a proper structure and cleanliness has always played a vital role in the growth of the business,” Mashabane said.

A typical day for the seven Galinando Chicken staff members begins at 08:00 when the premises is thoroughly cleaned, while others prepare salads and the rest of the food. By 09:30 all is set and ready for their morning customers who prefer a breakfast of pap and
braai meat.
Codesa also mentions that the business has won two competitions for the best meat. Their clientele also includes tourists who pop in to enjoy African cuisine.

Prince Chibi and his friends enjoy a meal

I could not resist treating myself to one of the dishes on the menu. For only R30 I enjoyed a full plate of pap, two salads and meat coated with a tasty spice at the safe and clean outlet.
A happy customer, Prince Chibi, says he does not mind driving to Mphikza’s, all the way from KaBokweni, for the food. “This is by far the best chicken and I have no complaints as everything is perfect,” he says.
