Imithente to set the stage alight at #SAMA22

"Imithente idume ngokuncamula imbadada, and that’s exactly what we are going to do.”

KwaZulu-Natal pride, Imithente, is gearing up for an energetic and out of this world performance at the South African Music Awards (SAMAs) this Saturday.

The group will be sharing the stage with other artists such as Big Nuzz, and Zahara.

“We are ecstatic about this weekend. People should brace themselves for the performance of a lifetime. Although we will be allocated not more than two minutes, but Imithente idume ngokuncamula imbadada, and that’s exactly what we are going to do,” said Dumisile Manana, member of Imithente.

The group has been nominated for the Best Maskandi Album, for their album titled “Chakijane”. Having had so many nominations over the years, and actually winning the award in 2009, they are hoping for another win this year.

“We are very excited about the nomination, God is really great and we are grateful. We do hope that we win it, but if we don’t, whoever will win it would be doing it on the behalf of all the nominees. We are nominated alongside great artists such as Phuzekhemisi, Shwi no Mtekhala, and Thokozani Langa. It’s such a great honor being in the same category with such legends,” she added.

Although their album is said to be doing well in stores, Manana has cried foul of piracy and called on government to intervene on the fight.

“Our album is doing great on the shelves, but it would be better if the piracy pandemic was to stop. It’s really crippling us and we are pleading with the relevant departments in government to help us fight it,” she concluded.
