Shwi no Mtekhala to make a great comeback

They have been nominated for the Best Maskandi Album at the 22nd South African Music Awards and they are looking forward to the main event.

Shwi no Mtekhala took South Africa by storm a couple of years ago, 2012 to be precise, when they released their hit song, Ngafa. The duo has been on the spotlight since then and it seems like they are planning for a major comeback as it is.

They have been nominated for the Best Maskandi Album at the 22nd South African Music Awards and they are looking forward to the main event.

“We are happy ‘Top Thokozile’, being nominated for this award, it’s a great deal on its own. We’ve been nominated for the album titled ‘Bazali Bami’ released in 2014. We are really hoping to win the award, even though we are nominated with heavy weights such as Phuzekhemisi, Imithent, and Thokozani Langa,” said Shwi Xaba of Shwi no Mtekhala.

He added that although no album has topped their 2012 offering, they are hoping to do even better with the one they are working on.

“We are working on a brand new album and we hope that South Africa will receive it just like our first. Although we also understand that piracy has crippled our industry so bad, we can only hope that the album sales pick up and people actually buy the album in stores to boost sales,” he added.
