Cogta to create jobs in tribal areas

In Mbuzini and other surrounding areas under Chief Mlambo II, Mtshweni said 100 work opportunities would be created.

MBUZINI – The MEC for co-operative governance and traditional affairs (Cogta), Ms Refilwe Mtshweni has announced job-creation initiatives with a special focus on tribal areas in the jurisdiction of
17 traditional leaders.
Mtshweni made the announcement during the Mlambo annual cultural ceremony in Mbuzini, in the Nkomazi Local Municipality on Saturday.
In her keynote address, Mtshweni told the local community that Cogta would work in partnership with traditional leaders in an effort to eradicate poverty, unemployment and inequalities in tribal areas.
“We have for the first time dedicated community work programmes
(CWP) funding as from the
2016/17 financial year where 1 815 job opportunities shall benefit communities in areas of traditional leaders.

This will signal the start of a partnership that will contribute to a meaningful community jobs that will sustain them with monthly earnings,” Mtshweni said.
In Mbuzini and other surrounding areas under Chief Mlambo II, Mtshweni said 100 work opportunities would be created. Mbuzini is a historical village where the late Mozambican president, Samora Machel’s plane crashed 30 years ago.

A monument, in honour of Machel and 34 high-ranking officials was erected.
Mtshweni added that in areas under the jurisdiction of the two Ndebele kings, King Makhosoke II and Mabhoko III, 150 CWP job opportunities would be created.

The other identified traditional leaders in which a batch of 100 CWP job opportunities will be created are, Kgoshi Mokoena (Mathibela TC), Inkhosi Ngomane (Hhoyi), Ikosi Mahlangu (Ndzuza-Fene), Inkhosi Mnisi (Duma), Inkhosi Malaza (Mandlamakhulu), Inkhosi Mkhatshwa (Mawewe), Kgoshikgadi Mohlala, Kgosi Maluka (Bakgatla ba Mocha), Inkhosi BR Mahlangu (Somphalali), Hhosi Mnisi (Mnisi), Inkhosi Mnisi (Mantjolo), Kgosi Malele, Inkhosi Shongwe (Matsamo), and Kgoshi Chiloane (Setlare).
