Tingwenyama host warriors

Mbombela United will host African Warriors on Saturday at the KaNyamazane Stadium.

A win for Mbombela United will see them climb the log to third place with 50 points, but only if Royal Eagles and Witbank Spurs both lose their games.

Royal Eagles are currently fourth with 48 points and will travel to Cape Town where they have a tough date against Vasco Da Gama.

Witbank Spurs are third and also involved in a tough battle against top-of-the-table Baroka FC in Limpopo at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium.

All these games take place on Saturday at 15:00.

After an impressive 1-0 victory against Milano United in Cape Town last Saturday, Mbombela United will have no problem overcoming African Warriors on Saturday.

African Warriors are at the bottom of the National First Division table with 22 points and judging by their current performance, they look set to get the chop to the ABC Motsepe League.

Tingwenyama spokesperson, Sostern Gutsa, said they will not make the mistake of undermining African Warriors just because they are currently struggling.

“That would be a bad approach. We need to come out strong and approach this game as if it were a cup final.

“Anyway, it is a cup final because every game we play now is vital and we need to collect everything on offer and pray that other teams drop points so we finish within the top three,” said Gutsa.

Teams finishing second and third automatically qualify for the play-offs against the team that finishes 15th in the Absa Premiership.

If Tingwenyama win all their three remaining fixtures, they will be guaranteed a place in the play-offs.

But then again, it will depend on the outcome of the other games.
