United ready for Leopard claws

If everything goes according to coach, Vusi Mkhatshwa's plan, Tingwenyama may leave the KaNyamazane Stadium on Sunday with 32 points and in second place on the NFD log.

National First Division (NFD)campaigners, Mbombela United, will host in-form Black Leopards in one of the weekend’s much-awaited soccer clashes.

If everything goes according to coach, Vusi Mkhatshwa’s plan, Tingwenyama may leave the KaNyamazane Stadium on Sunday with 32 points and in second place on the NFD log. Mkhatshwa’s boys are currently third with 29 points after 16 games. Cape Town All Stars are second and Limpopo-based, Baroka FC on top with 35 points. United played to a goalless stalemate against Royal Eagles in Durban on Sunday, while Leopards scored an impressive 5-2 victory over Cape Town All Stars.

United spokesperson, Sostern Gutsa, said the team were still on track to challenge for top honours regardless of the two consecutive draws against Santos FC at home and Royal Eagles at King Zwelithini Stadium.

“We defied the odds when we defeated Black Leopards in their own backyard in the first round. We owe our supporters a win and come Sunday, we will do our level best to outsmart Leopards,” said Gutsa. He said match tickets were available at Chesanyama, KaNyamazane Complex for just R10 each.

“Due to the increase in the number of our supporters in KaBokweni (Ngodini), Dwaleni and Mbonisweni, we have made transport available in these areas. Supporters who wish to come and watch the team can contact Mzwandile on 071-111-9175 for transport arrangements and pick-up points,” said Gutsa.

He said buses would depart from Dwaleni, KaBokweni, Clau-Clau and Zwelisha
