Aces outline future plans

With the 2015/16 Absa Premiership season already underway, Mpumalanga Black Aces have their eyes set on a clinical finish in the top-eight spot.

With the 2015/16 Absa Premiership season already underway, Mpumalanga Black Aces have their eyes set on a clinical finish in the top-eight spot.

Speaking to the team’s spokesperson, Gordon Masondo, he said the team has been hard at training and they were confident of a promising season.

“Our victory last weekend against Bidvest Wits and Platinum Stars during the Mbombela Football Spectacular was a sign that the team means business and is hungry for success.

“We are only going to pick up where we left off. Our plan for this season is to collect maximum points as much as we can in the first round of the log,” he said.

Even though Aces have lost some of their key players like Tendai Ndoro, Edwin Gymah and Aubrey Ngoma, Masondo believes that their current crop of players are capable of seeing the team through.

He said the team had just signed Liberian International, Kpah Sherman who recently helped his Tanzanian club, Young African Sport Club win the 2014/15 league.

“We are trying to fill the void left by some of the players that left us and Sherman is one of our new players.

He has signed a three-year deal with us and we hope he will help guide the team to friendly waters,” went on Masondo. Aces chairman, Mario Morfou was said to be excited when he finally captured the Liberian’s signature and was confident that he would be one of the best strikers in this season.

“He’s an excellent player and arguably one of the best we have ever signed, and yes, we are relieved to finally be able to formally welcome him to AmaZayoni. He will be an ideal partner up front with Collins Mbesuma and I’m confident he will be among the top goalscorers in the league this season,” he said.

Aces will be mentored by the no-nonsense coach, Mushin Ertugral. Their first league game is on August 8 against Free State Stars.
Their first home game is on August 22 against Supersport United. Masondo said they were ready.
