Hip-hop fever hits the lounge

Local hip-hop artists have been given the platform to showcase their abilities, and famous artists in this genre are drawn to spearhead the growth in the industry.

Ricky Rick will perform live at Cargo Lounge this Saturday. This is part of their local talent promotion which seems to be going great.
“We have been doing this for a very long time now, and it is encouraging to see positive results from it.

We are going to have local artists perform with Ricky Rick. If one understands hip hop, they’ll know how much of a big deal this is. We have success stories from this initiative.

To mention just a few, Mpumalanga’s own sensation in the industry, Mozkid, will release his album soon, in which he worked with Ricky Rick. All of this has been made possible through the platforms provided to these artists,” said Tshepo Malebane, organiser of the event.

The King of NelCity, Yung Fess, is also one of the local artists to be given the platform through this initiative, and has since taken the baton and ran with it.

“He had his CD launch here at Cargo Lounge on July 25, and it was packed, the support was amazing. These are the little things that push us to keep this programme growing, because the people also appreciate the good music offered by our local artists.

He will also perform at the upcoming event, which we have themed, ‘The pre-spring bash’. We are gearing up for summer, and all the parties that are awaiting us.”

The festivities will kick off at 18:00, and tickets are available at the gate for R70 before 21:00, and R100 thereafter.

Lucky fans will win CDs given away by the Boss Zonke hitmaker himself, in a lucky draw competition.
