Fc Musa will face the Riders

Last year's runners-up in the Together Funerals sponsored annual soccer tournament, FC Musa, will play against the Riders FC, in the final showdown of this rapidly growing competition.

The two powerhouses in local football, meet each other after a series of knock-out stages.

Last Sunday, FC Musa defeated the Matsulu B, based Bazooka XI on penalties, while Riders FC booked themselves a place in the finals after a nail-biting encounter with Manchester United. Riders won by 3 – 2.

This tourney, which featured 32 teams from around Mbombela, has since produced nothing but good football and entertainment on and off the field.

According to Together Funerals CEO, James Mathebula, the finals will be played on July 19 at the KaBokweni Stadium where the top eight teams will share in the R60 000 prize money.

“The overall winner will get the lion’s share of R6 000, a trophy, soccer kit and gold medals, while the runners-up will receive R4 000 cash, a small trophy, soccer kit and silver medals. The third-placed team will walk away with R3 000 cash, a soccer kit and bronze, while the fourth placed team will receive R2 000 and a soccer kit,” explained Matsebula.

“The player of the tournament, the top goalscorer, the goalkeeper and the coach of the tournament will each receive a special prize,” he added. The company will also present four needy learners from the area with full school uniforms as part of the 67 minutes of Mandela Month.
