Organisers not backing down after first annual awards event’s bad start

The show which promised to be a glittering affair on the red carpet took a different turn with the sound that was not up to standard and a presentation of awards which was not necessarily in order.

Big ups to Mbombela socialites for not abandoning the first annual Beauty Music and Fashion Awards which was off to a very bad start on Saturday evening.

The show which promised to be a glittering affair on the red carpet took a different turn with the sound that was not up to standard and a presentation of awards which was not necessarily in order.

“You guys took this occasion seriously by dressing up and showing up.

Everyone who is here is the most important sponsor of this initiative and these glitches should not bring you down,” one of the programme directors, Rise FM’s Hlengiwe Sindane, told the guests who were starting to become irritated by the “technical glitches”.

Mpumalanga News was there and we asked several locals what they thought of the show and Selby Mhlongo said it seemed as if the organisers did not pay attention to a number of crucial aspects when organising the event.

“When we talk awards we are talking about good sound and order.

The idea around the whole show is good and it was supposed to represent the whole province but it was not planned properly.

The programme directors were excellent but poor planning killed the whole show,” Mhlongo said.

One of the organisers, Billy Brown said he was inspired by the support the province displayed.

“My wish for the next event is to get sponsorship so we can be able to have a bigger venue and proper sound since these cost a lot of money,” he said.

Brown who said he was inspired by the turn up further apologised for the technical problems.

“I promise all my supporters to expect growth in 2016,” he added.
