Have you seen DJ Fresh in the hood lately? What about some Tallass Mo, or Kenny Kunene? Delani Mofokeng is the man who is making it all happen, and he has a great time doing it.

“I got bitten, I love events and seeing my fellow Lowvelders mingling with the big names in Mzansi entertainment.”Delani is the founder of Mbombela Nights and Nabalabantfu Entertainment, and he has come a long way in the industry.

“It all began when I used to organise and host Sunday sessions while at school in Gauteng. I studied electrical engineering at the Vaal University of Technology, but the hunger for entertainment was too strong,” he says.

Having worked with big artists such as Euphonic, FeU, SPHEctacular, and DJ Naves has been eye-opener for him.

“I was Euphonic’s manager for almost three years. I also managed FeU, SPHEctacular and DJ Naves. I wanted more growth and knowledge so I had to expand my territory and move to focus on other things after that.

”Hailing from the same place as the popular house DJ Euphonic, Mgobodzi Trust, Mpumalanga News just had to ask whether he was related to the man or it was just work. Delani laughs and says, “We are related, he’s my cousin.

However, I don’t like talking about that a lot, lest people start thinking that has had an influence in my work. It should be clear that Euphonic and I share the same traits in the sense that when it comes to work, we are perfectionists.”

The 30-year-old enthusiast says he tries not to let his packed schedule distract him from his marriage of six years. “It does happen that you get so busy that you don’t even have time for yourself, but I try not to allow that to happen often.

I am married to the most beautiful and supportive wife, who makes my work even easier and takes the strain out of it. ”He could not hold back the tears when he shared his sentiments about his late grandmother.

“I was closer to my grandmother than I was to my mother. I lost both in the same year within a space of two months. That was a major blow for me, I felt I needed to take some time off from the nightlife.

My grandmother taught me how to pray and stay connected to my Christian roots. It does happen that sometimes I feel I have lost touch with God. I always pray that he brings me back.”

Inspired by “The Big Dawg”, DJ Fresh, Delani says he felt the need to tattoo certain things on his body so he could carry the sentiments with him wherever he went.

“I have my favourite verse from the Bible on my right arm, Psalm 27. I have my gran’s surname, dark clouds and a three respresenting God, the son, and myself. This symbolises that no matter how dark it may be in my life, through God, I will always shine.

“I also have my dear wife, Thuli’s name on my right arm. We have an unbreakable bond, I proudly walk around with her name on my arm.” Delani says he believes in empowering other people to do what they want to in order to fulfil their dreams.

“I have various business models linked under Nabalabantfu Investments. We have a clothing division, entertainment, advertising, and music.

Different people are handling them the best way possible, I am just overseeing things and my niche is events so I am more involved in that part of it.” Although he wanted to be a millionaire at 25, Delani says he does feel like he has achieved his dream.

“Initially I wanted to be a millionaire in terms of money when I turned 25. Being the God that never fails. My line of duty has made me a millionaire in the sense that I go to bed every night knowing that I have made people smile, whether through helping them reach their goals via my company, or just seeing the happy faces on the dance floor.

That to me is worth millions. ”He offers some tips to Lowveld entertainers. “I say fight the spirit of contentment as an entertainer, always aspire to learn new things to keep the ball rolling. You will deal with different people all the time, so flexibility and hustle should be the name of the game.”

Speaking of hustle, Mofokeng seems to be living up to his word in that regard. “I am currently working on one huge project in Nkomazi, I can’t reveal it yet, but it will be so big everyone will be talking about it.”
