Aces aim to shoot down Stars

Mpumalanga Black Aces will be oozing confidence when they host Free State Stars at Mbombela Stadium on Saturday at 15:30. This is after they registered a hard-fought 3-1 victory over Amazulu this past weekend.

Goals from Tendai Ndoro, S’boniso Gumede and Eddie Ngalo ensured the home team’s victory which saw them leapfrog Pirates and Wits into the sixth spot on the Absa Premiership table.

Before this away victory, Aces had held Chippa United to a 2-all affair in a nail-biting encounter last Wednesday.

“The team is fired up and we have our rhythm back. I don’t see any team coming out of Mbombela or KaNyamazane stadiums alive. Aces are now playing the kind of football our coach, Clive Barker has been cooking behind the scenes.

All that is left now and all that we hope for, is more support from all soccer-loving people in the province and with their support, I promise you, we will turn our home venue into our own slaughterhouse,” said Aces spokesperson Gordon Masondo.

Masondo believes that Aces have what it takes to topple the struggling Free State- based outfit. “It is never easy playing against teams such as Free State Stars, but we will do our level best to outplay them.

“We want to close this year on a high note so that when we return in 2015, we are geared and motivated to continue our ambush,” he went on.

After this clash, Aces will take on Bloemfontein Celtics next Wednesday at Mbombela Stadium and then play their last game of the year against Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday.
