The Premier Soccer League games resume this weekend after a two-week break. With plenty action awaiting soccer fanatics, the home team, Mpumalanga Black Aces, have a tricky date with Maritzburg United on Saturday at the latter’s home turf.

Aces, who have had a good away run, will certainly hope to continue where they had left off, when they collected all three points against Supersport United.

So far, Aces have collected four points on the road and this after they played to draw against Bloemfontein Celtics and registered one victory over Supersport United.

Sadly, little can be said about their form when playing at home. Out of three home league games, the home team has collected one point only and dropped six after losing to Kaizer Chiefs and Platinum Stars respectively.

This has to change and will change, according to the team’s spokesman, Gordon Masondo.
“I just want to assure the team’s supporters and all soccer-loving people of the province that Aces are back to their winning ways.

Remember, we have bought many new players and they are still trying to find their footing and I am sure that once they are comfortable, we will start winning again,” he said.

He emphasised the importance of winning, especially home games, as it builds confidence among supporters.

“You know, everyone wants to associate themselves with a winning team and we are desperate to start winning so that we may attract more supporters to our games at the Mbombela Stadium,” he went on.

Saturday’s game against Maritzburg United is not going to be any easy ride, since they are playing against an unpredictable side mentored by a master tactician, Steve Khompela.

“It’s never easy playing away, more especially when the team you play against is unpredictable and is coached by Khompela, but we are not going there to add numbers. In fact, we are not in the PSL just to add numbers but to compete and do better than our competitors. So, in short, we are going there to fight for maximum points,” he said.
