De Villiers confident of success in Sri Lanka

One-Day International (ODI) captain AB de Villiers said his side is looking forward to exacting some revenge on their upcoming tour of Sri Lanka.

South Africa have an undeniably poor record in Sri Lanka, only managing two wins from 16 One-Day Internationals, their most recent tour a year ago which saw them suffer a 4-1 defeat at the hands of the Asians.

De Villiers, though, insists his side has gained valuable experience since then, and while he expects the going to be tough, he is confident South Africa can do well.

“We get another bite of the cherry and the guys are really hungry,” said De Villiers.

“They are a very dangerous shorter-version team, all-round really, but specifically in T20s and ODIs.

“They’ve been performing very well in the last five years.

“They won a T20 World Cup and they’ve done really well in all their ODIs and world cups in the past.

“We’re very confident we can do something special in Sri Lanka.”
