Igesund has received offers

Gordon Igesund has confirmed that he has received offers from clubs locally and abroad but will only make a decision once his contract with Bafana Bafana runs out.

It was announced back in May that the 56-year-old’s contract as the national team’s head coach would not be renewed and that he would become a free agent from August 1, 2014.

Igesund, who used to train the likes of Moroka Swallows and Ajax Cape Town, admits that he misses being around a team every single day.

“There have been some offers from one or two PSL clubs, while there are others mainly from overseas,” he was quoted as saying on the PSL’s Twitter handle.

“The plan is to see out my contract and at the end of August I’ll have a bit of a break and see what happens from there.

“I really enjoyed my stay with the national team. I had a good record, but it’s now come to an end.”

He added: “There’s a big difference because when you’re at a club, you’re with the players on a daily basis and I missed that.

“I miss being on the field every day, I love that and it’s something I’ll factor in when I decide about my future.”
