Barker back at Aces training after surgery

Clive Barker will resume training with Mpumalanga Black Aces on Monday after missing out on the start of their preseason due to knee surgery.

The 1996 African Cup of Nations winning coach underwent a knee operation during the offseason and is expected to be on the field with his charges on Monday morning.

“He returned to Johannesburg on Friday where he met up with club owners Mario and George Morfou,” read a statement on the club’s Facebook page.

Barker enjoyed a fantastic season with the Senderwood club, where he led them to a seventh-place finish on the Absa Premiership log. He was also named Coach of the Q3 (third quarter) back in April.

Also joining the Aces set-up is former Kaizer Chiefs Fitness and Conditioning coach Elsa Storm, who will take on the same position with the Amazayoni.

“It will be a great honour working with the legendary Clive Barker, who I have always admired and I will certainly be looking forward to assisting Black Aces continue with their momentum towards the top four in the PSL,” said Storm.
