Light a fire for dad this Father’s Day

See the local Youtube sensation, ROBwithaB live on Father's Day when he will show you how to make fire with some unexpected objects!

MBOMBELA – You may have seen him on Youtube along with over 100 000 others, but now you can witness ROBwithaB live as he demonstrates his fascinating fire-making skills. Condoms, Coke cans, spectacles… Rob uses many unusual everyday items to start a fire.

Witness this with your father at a free Father’s Day fun day on Sunday June 15 at Outdoor Warehouse.

Rob will present a 45 minute interactive fire-making demonstration based on his popular YouTube series 101 Ways to Make Fire. ROBwithaB is renowned for his wacky sense of humour and informal style of ‘teaching by showing’, with a strong emphasis on audience participation. Members of the public can try their hand at making fire using a range of unusual items, including water bottles, batteries, sticks and Coke cans.

ROBwithaB will also demonstrate a number of more “primitive” friction fires, including the hand drill and bow drill. After the show, Rob will be available for a question-and-answer session and personal interaction. This will include time for photographs. All your photos from the event will be eligible for entry into a competition, with the first prize being a friction fire-making set, handcrafted from local timber by ROBwithaB.

The event will also provide a host of other activities for the whole family. There will be an interactive display of new vehicles including 4x4s, plus the opportunity to win a test drive in one of them. The kids can enjoy an outdoor play area with face-painting experts on hand to transform them into princesses and superheroes. Outdoor Warehouse will offer a variety of in-store specials during the event.

Doors open from 09:00 to 14:00. The fire-making demonstration starts at 10:30.

To confirm your attendance at the event, go to:
