DJ Shabba walks away with award

Mavuso went on and alluded that this country had talent in different categories and he was grateful for what he had achieved at national level.

One of our very own deejays from Ligwalagwala FM, Dumisani Mavuso, popularly known as “DJ Shabba” walked away with an award for “Best Presenter of Afternoon Drive” during the recent 2014 MTN Radio Awards held at the Sandton Convention Centre.

Speaking to this publication in an exclusive interview, the jubilant DJ Shabba said he was over the moon that he managed to achieve what he was longing for since he had joined the industry. “I’m over the moon and I also like to thank all the people who supported me. I learnt that if you do your job with love and discipline, good things will follow.”

Asked by this reporter what made his show different, as he was also competing against many radio presenters of repute in this category, he said, “When you are broadcasting, you must be able to bring in new ideas because you have to bear in mind that you are broadcasting to different listeners. You must be able to cater for all kinds of people and at the same time, you have to increase your listenership.”

Mavuso went on and alluded that this country had talent in different categories and he was grateful for what he had achieved at national level. “I’m humbled to know that I have represented the station at national level, as I believe that I have put all the people of our beautiful province in the spotlight and above all, our mother tongue Siswati because I was competing with different radio stations,” he said.

Mpumalanga News learnt that Mavuso started to rock the airwaves back in 1997 at Barberton Community Radio and then with his talent, he ventured into the greener pastures of Ligwalagwala FM and from there he never looked back again.
