What I’ve found to be very fascinating in the current political field, is the amount of hypocrisy among politicians themselves.The other day when Public Protector, Thuli Madonsela presented her Nkandla report to the nation and the world, it opened up the floor for various criticisms that came her way, including criticism that went beyond the line of duty, which was too personal, so much so that I cannot repeat what was said.
My point here being that the ANC called upon Cosas and the youth league who were responsible for those utterances and called them to order and ordered them to retract their statements – it was good under the current political climate, whereby, their president has the opposition calling for his head. At the back of my mind I thought: did they really mean it or was it just to save face?
As adults, as they showcased during Julius Malema’s disciplinary proceedings, they can wield the stick if the like, as adults, but they also tend to play along with the boys, so one never knows when they mean what they’re saying or not. Among the opposition there is a lot of bickering, too.
We know there are two COPE’s nationally and in our province. Surprisingly, after the Shilowa camp joined forces with the UDM’s Bantu Holomisa in a marriage that was flighted nationally, I couldn’t understand why our local Lekota camp representatives came to our office with a story that the only representative in the legislature, Zali Madonsela appears as number one of the UDM list when they know very well that she belongs to the Shilowa camp.They cited transgression of their constitution and called upon the speaker of the legislature to act against her.
I wonder if these politicians are aware that time is against them, instead of fighting internal matters, they should go out to the electorate and convince them to vote them into office, as they feel they are better off than all the rest.
