Aces are ready to school the students

The stadium's Mthuthu Xamba said tickets were already selling at all Computicket outlets and would also be available at the stadium.

Just a few months ago, Mpumalanga Black Aces were trailing from behind and fighting relegation. Today they are comfortably placed in eighth position of the Absa Premiership league.

They have a chance to cement their stay within the top eight teams when they host Bidvest Wits FC on Saturday at Mbombela Stadium.

Aces, on 34 points, are followed by Bloemfontein Celtic in ninth position on 33 points, while Supersport United is in position seven on 35 points.

Gordon Masondo, the team spokesman, has since promised the team would fight tooth and nail to secure that perfect finish. “All our final games aren’t easy ones, as we still have to play teams such as Chiefs and Sundowns, but we will fight until to the finish.

“We will fight for all three points on Saturday when we host Wits and I am certain of a top-eight spot,” said Masondo.

He added they were aware that they would face a much improved side but they were hopeful of causing an upset.

“Wits is currently playing good football and you can tell by the position they are occupying, so we are not going to sit back and allow them to come at us. We are going to throw all we have at them from the first minute until the last.

“Yes, we have a few players on the injury list but this will not stand in our way on Saturday.

“I promise our supporters good football and goals during this clash, so they must come in numbers to

give the boys that extra support,” he went on.

Wits are no strangers to Mbombela as they have played a number of their big games here after adopting the stadium as their second home ground.

They sure will be looking to continue their on-form run when they come here on Saturday.
