Win tickets to Blue Moon's last weekend extravaganza on March 22 and 23.

NELSPRUIT -Blue Moon, established in 1999, is closing and will hold its last weekend extravaganza on March 22 and 23. The first-ever event that was held there was with Jason Powell Food on July 1, 2000. The first private function was the Nelspruit Chamber of Commerce in October the same year. The first band that played at Blue Moon was Akkedis, with an entrance fee of R20.

Coca-Cola has supported events at Blue Moon since it was established 13 years ago. The company has a strong connection with the youth and music, and has helped bands like Prime Circle, The Parlotones, Dan Patlanski, Beeskraal, Van Coke Kartel and many more. Now Coca-Cola joins in the last serenade to the Lowveld and brings ISO, December Streets and for the first time, Matthew Mole.

Some other memorable moments include:
• Opening of the Mpumalanga Legislature in 2006, 2007 and 2008
• Springbok Nude Girls’ final tour in August 2002
• A total of three chalets were built for bands in 2007 and 2008
• Added cold rooms in 2006
• Constructed the top bar in 2001
• Bought its own sound system in June, 2004.

Gates open at 18:00 and the show starts at 19:00 on Saturday. Price: R120. Line-up: Café Wha?, December Streets, ISO, No One’s Arc, Wonderboom and Black Cat Bones.

The gates open at 13:00 and the show starts at 14:00 on Sunday. Price: R120. Line-up: Nakhane Toure, Made in Wrong Kong, No One’s Arc, Naming James, Matthew Mole, Saarkie and the final jam.

Weekend tickets cost R200, and are available from Stoep, Sonpark Boulevard.
