Deadly Black Aces striker found guilty

After finding a loophole in the PSL's clause, Aces challenged the PSL's decision and referred Khanyeza's case to the Safa's appeals board.

Mpumalanga Black Aces striker Mabhuti Khanyeza will serve a six-game suspension after he was found guilty of spitting and swearing at a match official last season while still playing for Ajax Cape Town.

This ruling by an independent arbitrator has brought an end to the long-standing saga.

The Aces’ deadly striker, Khanyeza, was initially found guilty of swearing and spitting at a linesman and suspended for a year by a PSL disciplinary committee.

His former team, Ajax Cape Town decided not to renew his contract and Aces signed him.

After finding a loophole in the PSL’s clause, Aces challenged the PSL’s decision and referred Khanyeza’s case to the Safa’s appeals board.

He successfully appealed his sentence to the mother body and it was reduced from a 12-month ban to an effective R25 000 fine.

The PSL in turn, appealed against what they termed a light sentence, to the arbitrator last August.

The arbitrator then found the talented player guilty and imposed a six-match ban and also fined him R100 000 wholly suspended for the current season on condition he was not found guilty of similar incidents during the period of suspension.

Each party will have to pay 50% of the court costs as well as the arbitration costs.
