Aces to entertain Swallows and Bucs

After this game, Aces will then take on Orlando Pirates at the Mbombela Stadium on Tuesday at 19:30.

The KaNyamazane Stadium will host its second Premier Soccer League game between home team Mpumalanga Black Aces and Moroka Swallows.

This encounter which was postponed a month ago because of insufficient lighting at the stadium, will now take place on Saturday at 15:00.

The elated Aces’ spokesman, Gordon Masondo said after lengthy deliberations with the PSL, they managed to reach consensus to bring the game much closer to the people.

“When we returned to top-flight football in the beginning of the season, the team’s management took a decision to bring the the players closer to the people. We tried utilising stadiums in the townships such as in Middelburg, Mhluzi but the stadium was later booked for renovations.

We then decided to adopt the KaNyamazane Stadium and for us taking this game and many other ones there is our way of taking the team directly to the people,” said Masondo.

The PSL initially wanted the game to be played elsewhere citing various valid reasons such as the lack of floodlights and the poor water drainage system of the pitch, but Aces management put up a brave fight and persuaded the PSL board to bring the game to this historic township.

“We only hope that we will not live to regret this decision. We have been struggling to attract support at the Mbombela Stadium and we can only hope we will be well supported in KaNyamazane. It’s really painful to play home games in an empty stadium,” added Masondo.

Lack of home support for many PSL and NFD teams has seen these teams adopting other provinces or stadiums as their second home venues.
