Prepare yourselves for an exciting, classy African jazz, soul and ballad performance at the Lowveld Botanical Garden on February 16. Multi-award-winning Afro-jazz songbird, Judith Sephuma and singing sensation Afrotraction will take turns on the stage.
Brought to you by Ziyaphenduka Promotions in collaboration with the SABC-owned radio station, Ligwalagwala FM, which is celebrating its 31st anniversary this year, this romantic outing will also feature the station’s love and ballads maestro,
Sweet Mike, and will form part of the Valentine’s Day celebration.
“There is no better way to celebrate this special day than with the soothing sounds of Judith and Afrotraction, and our very own Sweet Mike. It’s been too long since we took some time off to celebrate this special day. This year we have decided to go all out and celebrate with our loved ones,” said Bruce Kgapane, CEO of Ziyaphenduka Promotions.
“This is simply going to be a fun-filled day with love and good music, and it gives us a platform to show our loved ones that we really care. We are also going to give prizes to the best-dressed couples,” said Kgapane.
Tickets are available at all Sneakers Edition outlets and at the N4 Sasol filling station for R200 per person, or for R250 at the gate. Sephuma, who has proved to be one of Mzansi’s pre-eminent female artists and has worked with many top artists such as the legendary Oliver Mtukudzi, is set to offer some of her best work yet. Her accolades, which include the South African Music Awards, two Metro FM Music Awards and two Kora All Africa Awards, speak volumes.
Afrotraction has also taken the music scene by storm and changed the way people view the siSwati language and lyrics. The Nelspruit-born artist, who is often mistaken as a group, is actually a solo act by Wandile Moya who possesses vast experience, having worked with artists such as HHP, Teargas, Kabelo, Denim, Jamali and Thembi Seete.
His sound has been described as Mzansi soul.
“The combination of these two acts will certainly make this day a memorable one,” concluded Kgapane.
