Cultural group left spectators wanting more

All participants were given token of appreciation at the Gert Sibande District Municipality’s (GSDM) traditional music and dance festival.

Spectators were left asking for more during the Gert Sibande District Municipality’s (GSDM) traditional music and dance festival recently.

It was held on the picturesque lawns of the GSDM offices in Ermelo and featured more than 40 highly talented groups representing the seven local municipalities.

Floorboards rattled as the groups’ strutted their stuff on stage, much to the delight of the spectators who whistled, ululated and clapped, urging them on their spectacular performances.

The GSDM Executive Mayor, Councillor Mishack Nhlabathi, was among those who could not hide their excitement and on several occasions found themselves joining in the performances on stage.

“When I look at the groups present today, they indicate the true diversity of our country and all races and cultures are represented. This is an indication of government commitment in promoting all cultures in our district and on inclusive society.

“I therefore salute the organisers and participants in this event, whom I believe, have realised that our district municipality can offer an abundance of arts and culture opportunities, which will culminate in economic growth and economic freedom for the people within our district,” said Councillor Nhlabathi.

The Gert Sibande District Municipality also handed all the participants with tokens of appreciation and pledged to support them whether performing at the Provincial, National and International level.
