Festive family fun day in the garden

Pack your picnic blanket and head to the Lowveld Botanical Garden on Reconciliation Day, Monday, 16 December to enjoy a Festive fun-filled afternoon with something for all, young and old!

Not heading to the coast for a year-end break in December? Only leaving on holiday after Christmas?

Then be sure to pack your picnic blanket and head to the Lowveld Botanical Garden on Reconciliation Day, Monday, 16 December to enjoy a Festive fun-filled afternoon with something for all, young and old!

Brought to you by Riverside Park, Hi Q and Find It Promotions, the festivities – which kick off at 15h00 – will include an action packed Kiddies Paddock, a Christmas Carols performance by the Wits Choir under direction of Dalene Hoogenhout, an A Cappella Carols performance by local choir, the African Songbirds, followed by a colourful appearance by the Oriental Fire dance troupe from Johannesburg.

This collaboration of dancers, from all over the world, shares a passion for the beauty and energy of many varied dance forms, most particularly Belly Dancing and Bollywood.
The evening will wrap up with a pacey, vaudeville performance by the Step Ahead ensemble complete with a cameo appearance by a few of Santa’s elves!

The Kiddie Paddock will have a myriad of supervised activities to keep the youngsters entertained from giant garden games (like Snakes & Ladders, Pick Up Sticks and Dominos) to slip ‘n slides, jumping castles, sand art, hand making of Xmas decorations, face painting, a mechanical bull and much more!

All sorts of food will be on offer from Prego’s and burgers to chip twisters and yummy chocolate brownies. A cash drinks station will also be available with soft drinks for the younger crowd and something a little stronger for the adults.

Not to forget those less fortunate, especially at this time of the year, the organisers will be donating a percentage of the day’s taking to Nelspruit Meals on Wheels.
Nelspruit Meals on Wheels prepare – and deliver – 90 meals every Tuesday and Thursday, every week of the year.

The organisation is staffed entirely by volunteers and relies on food and cash donations from the Nelspruit community.

Gates open at 15h00 and the pre-sale entry ticket cost is R70 for adults and R20 for children under 12 years.

Tickets will be on sale at Riverside Mall Customer Care Desk from mid-November.

Entry tickets on the day will be R80 for adults and still only R20 for children.

No private picnic baskets or cooler boxes will be permitted but the public is encouraged to bring picnic blankets and camp chairs. Gates close at 21h00.
