Search for South Africa’s next idol draws to an end

Brenden,Musa and Sonke battled it out for a spot in the finale to be held next week.

With the Idols SA competition down to just three hopefuls, the search for the next idol is almost at the end. Last night Brenden, Musa and Sonke battled it out  for a spot in the finale to be held next week on Tuesday.

The  question on everyone’s lips is: “Who is it going to be?”, and South Africa will soon have an answer to the tough question.

After perfoming three songs each, the contestants impressed the judges and left the public with a difficult choice to make.

“Early in the competition I thought Sonke was the guy for me but after tonight’s show,my money is on Brenden,” Lethabo Matsotso told Mpumalanga News at the live pre-recording of the show on Friday night. For Maite Masilo, even after Randal’s negative comments regarding Sonke’s perfomance, the Soweto guy still has her full support.

Randal was also impressed after Graskop’s Ben 10 performed Bruno Mars’s ‘Locked out of heaven’.

“After listening to all your perfomances tonight, I don’t see any reason why you should not be in the final,” the hard to impress judge told Brenden.

Unathi was impressed with Musa’s rendering of The Soil’s ‘Inkomo’ saying he had given South Africa what they had asked for.

On Friday night, fans from Witbank and Thaba Chweu Municipality ferried in buses to Moreleta Park in a bid to show their support to the provinces’ favourites. Nonki Mazibuko, one of the fans from Witbank said that one of Mpumalanga’s contestant must walk away with the 2013 Idol title and show that there is great talent in the province with a pioneering spirit.

This publication’s reporters had an opportunity to interact with Brenden and Musa after Friday’s show and they both said that they were humbled by the support everyone from the province has shown them. They also said that making it to the Top 3 was a memorable journey that they will always cherish-whether they win or lose.

“It’s no longer about who wins or not, this opportunity has already opened doors for us and I am personally going to use it to unearth the hidden talent in the province, especially eMalahleni,’ added Musa.

Should the pride of Mpumalanga both make it to the finale, the big question will be: Where does the title go,Highveld or Lowveld?
