Stars need to collect points

Nkosi is adamant that Stars will campaign in the Premier Soccer League next season.

After a tough and challenging outing to the Mother City, Cape Town, Sivutsa Stars will once again spend the weekend away from home.

This time around, coach John Tlale’s boys travel to the Free State where they have another tough date with the newly promoted Maluti FET College at the Charles Mopeli Stadium on Saturday at 15:30.

Stars’ public relations officer (PRO), Charles Nkosi said the Cape Town trip, where they met two Cape Town-based teams, Santos and Chippa United in a space of three days, was both mentally and physically strenuous to the team, but is confident that the team will recover just in time before their clash in the Free State.

“Well, the Cape Town experience is in the past now, but I am glad that we learnt a thing or two from the two games we played there. I am certain that the boys are going to the Free State to collect points,” said Nkosi.

Asked if they were panicking after dropping six points on the road, Nkosi said even though management wants results, he is so far happy and convinced that the best is yet to come.

“I am personally happy that we got to travel to most of the strong contenders in the first round, because this will give us enough time to plan a successful feast here at home. I am certain that the boys would want to avenge those defeats we suffered away when it’s our turn to host these teams here,” he went on.

Nkosi is adamant that Stars will campaign in the Premier Soccer League next season.

“It’s still very early to start pushing panic buttons, and I am sure that in all our remaining home fixtures, we shall be collecting maximum points, but the quest to collect points begins this Saturday.”

Stars need to start collecting points for them to stay within the top 8 bracket and qualify for the Nedbank Cup.
