Aces record first win on home soil

"This victory has helped boost our team’s confidence and the boys are now ignited and hungry for more victories here"

Mpumalanga Black Aces recorded their first victory at the Mbombela Stadium when they edged the Durban based side, Golden Arrows this past Saturday.

And according to the team’s spokesman, Gordon Masondo, following this famous victory, more teams are going to come and leave Mbombela stadium empty-handed.

“Just like we promised our supporters and the people of the province, that we are going to turn Mbombela into our slaughter house. I am happy that we have delivered as promised and many more teams are going to wish they hadn’t come here because we are not going to show any mercy,” said Masondo.

Before Saturday, the home team had lost to Kaizer Chiefs and played two draws against Supersport United and Bloemfontein Celtics. The team had also lost against Orlando Pirates during a Cup encounter.

“We have given soft goals and easy points here, but we are not about that anymore and those who were at the stadium on Saturday, saw what the team can do. This victory has helped boost our team’s confidence and the boys are now ignited and hungry for more victories here,” went on Masondo.

He said their early exit from the Telkom Knockout Cup has enabled them ample time to get their house in order and work on their shortfalls.

Aces’ victory on Saturday has pushed them into the top 8 of the log, a bracket of which Masondo believes the team should end the season in.

“Aces is a very big team with a rich history and, therefore, mustn’t just worry about avoiding relegation but instead fight to finish amongst the country’s top eight teams on the log and I can assure you and all our supporters that we are going to fight to the bitter end and finish the season within the top 8 teams,” he said.

Aces’ next date at the Mbombela stadium is on Saturday, November 9 against Ajax Cape Town.
