Local songbird does it again

in 2011 she made history in the province after she was announced as the best Swazi album with the track "Siba lala la," which branded her very well in the industry.

It’s that time of the year again where we have to unite as citizens of the province and support our very own traditional music artist, Make Shelangubo during the South African Traditional Music Awards (Satma) next month as she has been nominated in the category of best siSwati album.

Speaking to Mpumalanga News, she indicated that she wanted to put the province on the map just like she did in 2011 when she was announced as the winner of the best siSwati album award.

“My music is not only about entertaining people, but also sends a good message to people out there, “Sakha imitimi ngemculo wesintfu” and I also promote our mother tongue.

Being nominated means a lot not only to me as an individual but to the whole province because it shows that our talent is well recognised,” she said.

She added that in order for her to focus on Mpumalanga at Satma, she needed support.

“When I started singing, it was not an easy journey but I have managed to survive this far through the support of the public and now I urge them to vote for me again.”

Her career in the music industry is developing well as she explained that even her recent album, Kukhona langishoda khona, is selling like hot cakes.

In it she directly addresses problems that affect her community, in a very humourous manner.

“I’m happy with the positive response and I would like to thank those people who are supporting all local artists,” said Shelangubo.
