The local boys scored a massive victory away from home against the Johannesburg side, Ratanang Academy.

The Nelspruit Angels who forced the game to a 2 all draw by regulation time, won 5 – 4 on penalties. Local lad, Tumelo Kokwana was voted as one of the most gifted players of the tourney and his goal on Saturday was voted the best goal of the tournament.

This victory puts them in a good position as they prepare for the semi-finals that will be held on August 24, in Middelburg. After their impressive run, the boys visited Naturena, a club house of one of the biggest teams in South Africa, Kaizer Chiefs.

According to the director of the team, Sam Mnisi, the players were motivated after they visited the Kaizer Chief village.

“I’m confident to say that at this stage the moral is very high because it’s not only about playing soccer and having fun but we also teach them how to behave in life in order to become a better person and visiting the club house was an opportunity of a lifetime and has opened doors for the boys. In November we are going to take some of the boys for trials with the Kaizer Chiefs development structure,” he said.

“I believe we are on the right track in our mission to represent the province in the NFD league and eventually the PSL. I would like to thank the executive mayor of Mbombela Local Municipality, Cllr Cathy Dlamini and all local companies that supported us financial in making our trip to Johannesburg a success,” he concluded.

The Nelspruit Angels Club currently is in first position in the Mbombela U/15 log stream B with 23 points.
