Buscor the best at the Transport Month Tourney

The Buscor team walked away with the floating trophy, gold medals and a R4 000 cheque to be donated to any orphanage of their choice.

Buscor bus drivers are the winners of the 2019 Transport Month Tourney.

The team emerged victorious during a penalty shoot-out, when they beat the SAPS team 4-2 following a 0-0 draw at KaNyamazane Stadium last Sunday.

Buscor players also received the top individual prizes. Mandla Sandleni received a trophy for being the player of the tourney, Isaac Tsabedze received his personal trophy for being goalkeeper of the tourney, and Solomon “Kwaito” Shongwe was awarded for being the best coach of the tourney.

Four teams, comprised of bus and taxi drivers from Buscor, Topstar Taxi Association, SAPS and Traffic Officers, battled against each other for the prize.

The games formed part of Transport Month celebrations in the region, with the hope of improving relations and improving the safety of public transport users. The SAPS team, comprised of TRT members and police from KaNyamazane, Pienaar and KaBokweni, obtained the second position, and received a trophy, silver medals and a R3 000 cheque to be donated to any orphanage of their choice.

Top Star drivers obtained the third position after Sibusiso “Sulumani” Ntima scored their winning goal, beating the Traffic Officers 1-0.

The taxi drivers received a trophy, bronze medals and a R2 000 cheque to donate to any charity home of their choice. The Traffic Officers, on losing, received a
R1 000 cheque to donate to any charity home.

Buscor’s sports coordinator, Alex Mnisi, said the games were aimed at complementing each other’s efforts in the transport industry. “All four teams also received brand new playing kits and were well catered for by the main sponsor, Buscor Company. We aim to build good working relations in the transport industry and to show that in this industry, we don’t compete, but complement each other. We also thank everyone who supported the games, including Hollywood Bets for sponsoring drinking water for the taxi drivers’ teams,” said Mnisi.
