This midfielder is hungry for his spot

I want to improve on last season's performance and at the same time help the team gain promotion to the Absa Premiership

Mbombela United long-serving midfielder, Mlungisi “Mlungu” Nkosi (28), said should he be provided with an opportunity to play this season he is ready to cement his place in the team.

Nkosi, who has been with Tingwenyama since 2013, said he has enough experience now to command a consistent spot in the team.

“I joined the team in the 2013/14 season from Phiva Young Stars. I have been with them while they were campaigning in the Mpumalanga ABC Motsepe League (then Vodacom League) and I played an instrumental role when we gained promotion to the National First Division in 2014/15,” says Nkosi.
Mlungu, as he is known to his peers, has also had a stint with now defunct Sivutsa Stars, which was later sold to S’bu Mpisane, who renamed them to Royal Eagles and relocated the team to Durban.

Last season Nkosi netted two goals, a return the right- footed midfielder is unhappy about.
“I think the time for me to play a leading role in assisting the team has come. I want to improve on last season’s performance and at the same time help the team gain promotion to the Absa Premiership,” added Nkosi.

Mbombela lost 2-1 to Santos in their first game of the new season away from home a fortnight ago.
Nkosi said they are looking ahead as a team to the match against Milano United at KaNyamazane Stadium on Saturday to rectify their mistakes. The match will kick-off at 15:00.

In last season’s meetings, Mbombela beat Milano 1-0 both home and away.
“This is our first home game this season and we must ensure that we win at any cost. Last season we were good travellers and we did not perform well at home. To be taken serious as strong league contenders, we need to display consistent by collecting maximum points both at home and away,” added Nkosi.

Entrance to the game at KaNyamazane Stadium is R20 and tickets are available at Chesa Nyama at Lekazi complex.
Meanwhile another Mpumalanga side, Witbank Spurs, started their new season on a high note when they beat Milano United, 2-1 away from home.

This coming Saturday Siyavutha will host Mthatha Bucks at Pumas Rugby Stadium on Sunday.
