Hundreds of soccer fans supports local tournament
Community members showed their continued support for the local sports during the Quarter finals of the Yesive Community Initiative tournament.
Hundreds of soccer and netball fans came in their hundreds to watch the entertaining Yesive soccer and netball tournament that continued over the weekend.
These knockout stages were also graced by the presence of ANC heavyweights, the provincial secretary, Mandla Ndlovu and the regional secretary, Phazamisa Mathe.
Ndlovu greeted the supporters and expressed his excitement with the number of people who came out to support the tournament.
He also encouraged the fans to vote for the ANC at their various voting stations on August 3. He further promised to donate an extra R10 000 to add to the initial prize of R5 000.
The teams are now battling for their share in the R15 000 total prize money up for grabs. He then thanked the organisers and promised to return to watch the finals to be played this coming Sunday.
Results for the past weekend are as follows:
• Khutsong vs Bazooka (0-1)
• Hungry Lions vs Matsulu Legends (0-4)
• Teenage All Stars vs Mbombela Real Stars (1-0)
• Matsulu Chelsea vs One Family ended in a draw of 1-1 with Matsulu Chelsea winning with 7-6 in the penalty shoot-out.
