Mbombela United look set to make history by qualifying for the national play-offs in their first season in the tough National First Division tier.

After Saturday’s 5-3 win over African Warriors, Tingwenyama have moved up to third place on the log and are now just a step away from booking a space in the national play-offs, which are scheduled from Wednesday May 25 to June 22.

With only two games left before the dust settles, the going is yet to get rougher for the home team, as they have two tough clashes ahead.
They will travel to Cape Town where they have a meeting with one of the most stubborn teams in the Mother City, FC Cape Town.

The game is scheduled for Sunday at 15:00 at the NNK Rugby Stadium.
Their last game of the season is against yet more tough Capetonians, Cape Town All Stars at the KaNyamazane Stadium next Sunday.

Mbombela United need to collect all six points on offer from these two remaining fixtures to cement their place in the play-offs.

The home team, with 50 points, are trailed by neighbours, Witbank Spurs which are in fourth place with 49.

In the fifth spot are the Royal Eagles from Durban with 48 points, while Milano United are seated in position six with
47 points. The contest is now between these four teams. On Sunday Witbank Spurs will host Royal Eagles at the Puma Rugby Stadium and a draw will be good news for Tingwenyama.

Milano United are at home against Vasco Da Gama.

The promotion play-offs are contested by three clubs – the one that finishes 15th on the Absa Premiership log, and the two clubs that finish second and third in the NFD log.
