Following a string of defeats, Mpumalanga Black Aces finally broke the bad spell when they thumped Jomo Cosmos 3-1 on Tuesday night.

Played before a disappointing crowd at Mbombela Stadium, the home team came to this clash with victory on their minds and it came as no surprise when they dominated matters from the very first minute.

Aces took the lead in the 38th minute when Thanduyise Khuboni played Lebogang Manyama into space on the edge of the box and the attacking midfielder made no mistake with a thunderous strike.

At the stroke of half time the home team doubled their lead through Collins Mbesuma who headed home a Bongolethu Jayiya corner kick.

Aces continued where they had left off and 10 minutes into the second stanza scored their third goal through Judas Moseamedi after connecting with a pass from Aubrey Modiba.

Just when they started dominating and dictating matters, Cosmos pulled one back courtesy of a clinical finish from Brice Aka.

Cosmos tried to find their way back into the game but Aces’ defense held firm and they walked away with maximum points.

Tuesday’s victory secured Aces a second spot on the table, and they are now tied with Platinum Stars with
18 points.
