Jomo returns to PSL

It remains to be seen whether the newly promoted Jomo Cosmos will host some of their games in the province or not.

Cosmos regained their Premier Soccer League (PSL) status last week after a series of league games which included competing against Moroka Swallows and Black Leopards.

During their pre-season camp at Ngwenyama Lodge, situated between Mbombela and White River, the Cosmos boss Jomo Sono exclusively hinted that he would love to adopt Mpumalanga as his home, if he gained promotion to the PSL.

Even though attempts to source comment from Sono proved fruitless at the time of going to print, indicators proved that he was likely to return to the Mehlareng or Makhulong stadiums, which were based in Tembisa, Ekurhuleni in Gauteng.

These two stadiums had previously been home to Cosmos for many years and they enjoyed massive support whenever playing here.

Many soccer enthusiasts who interacted with this publication believed that chances of Cosmos coming here were slim, especially since the home team, Mpumalanga Black Aces, had permanently moved to Mbombela and that support from this part of town hadn’t been impressive.

Currently, Cosmos were temporarily using the small Vaal University Stadium, which would not be viable to host official PSL games because of its capacity.
