As widely speculated, the Mdladla Peacemakers are the new Selati Super Cup kings.
The Vlakbult boys were crowned after beating the Langeloop Black Burn United 1-0 on Sunday at the Driekoppies Stadium.

Although the writing was on the wall that Peacemakers would leave the field with the trophy in their bags, this game could honestly have gone either way.

“Yes, this was a highly contested game, but at in the end there had to be one winner and Peacemakers were the lucky ones. I am neither bitter nor angry, we lost to a better team, but there will be always a next time,” said Black Burn coach, Bono Masilela.

He believes that his boys gave it their all from the beginning of this tournament to the finals on Sunday.

Mdladla Peacemakers, which had earlier vowed to write their name on the trophy, had to cut short their planned celebration with the community following the untimely passing of the team president’s son.

“We will be forever grateful for the support we have received from the beginning of the Selati Cup until today. We would have loved to celebrate our victory with the entire community and all our supporters but we promise that when the time is right, we will do so,” said Peacemakers PRO, Thabo Manyovu Mnisi.

He said his team deserved to be champions since they had displayed character from the first game to the final.

“Winning the cup was the easy part, what is more difficult is defending it, but we are determined to come back again next year and do so successfully.

“It’s not going to be easy but we will try our very best to write our own history in this competition,” vowed Manyovu.

Besides lifting the Selati trophy, Peacemakers pocked R75 000 in cash.
