Schools get into gear for sport tourney

These games will be played over three days in KaBokweni. About 10 high schools will participate in this competition and they are all from the Insikazi Circuit.

Mpumalanga Schools Cup LOC has collaborated with Sanca, SAPS, Department of Social Development, LoveLife, the departments of health and education, New Start, correctional services and Swartfontein Treatment Centre to host a sporting tournament in May.

Mpumalanga Schools Cup is a newly established competition (soccer and netball) with the aim of mobilising the youth in order to educate them about the dangers of crime, drug and alcohol abuse, teenage pregnancy and HIV/Aids. Previously they only had an arrangement with Cosas, Mpumalanga Ancyl, TUT Nelspruit Campus, Absa, MTN and the Provincial Department of Culture, Sport and Recreation.

Every message to be conveyed during these games will reach the audience. When all these organisations met, they agreed to move forward as a team and speak in one voice.
