The January transfer window has seen some interesting and expensive moves in both the Premier and First Division leagues.
The only provincial team campaigning in the PSL, Mpumalanga Black Aces, has made full use of this window period, signing the services of former Orlando Pirates players, Thulasizwe Mbuyane and Innocent Mdledle and former Bidvest Wits duo Miguel Timm and Jackson Mabokgwane, to boost the current crop of quality players, such as Mabhuti Khanyeza, Abia Nale and Eduardo Ferreira.
Aces offloaded only two players from their list, Sechaba Mmuso and Paolo Moreiro.
Amazayoni, as they are affectionately known, are currently in position 11 of the log and have since made their intentions known that they want to remain in the elite league and become one of the super powers in the country’s football cycles.
Another home team campaigning in the NFD league, Sivutsa Stars, have also made some changes to their current squad.
Stars who are currently occupying the 11th position in the NFD log table have brought in new players, Lemako Mpho Samson, Mbebe Mpho Etam and goalkeeper, Skhumbuzo Nkumane.
Among the players they released are Rendani Ndou, Themba Mavundla and assistant coach, Mac Donald Makhubedu.
The team’s PRO, Charles Nkosi, said the reason why they didn’t go in search of more new players was because they believed that their current squad was hungry enough to take the team to the next level.
“We really don’t believe in stars or individual players but more in team effort and we believe that bringing in a known star player would not add any value to us.
We have a very good, strong and competitive team capable of greatness. What we need to do is to keep on fighting much harder than before, and I am certain of a place in the play-offs,” explained Nkosi.
